Why Our New Collection Is Called “AfterWait”

AfterWait is not just a new collection; it’s a story of patience, resilience, and creative alignment. Imagined in 2023 and paused for almost two years, the collection returns now as a more mature expression where handwoven bamboo from Tripura meets expressive textiles inspired by flora, fauna, folklore and mysticism. Here is why this long journey could only have one name: AfterWait – Worth the Becoming.

A Name Born from a Two‑Year Pause:

The idea that became AfterWait started in 2023 as an experimental reinterpretation of Naga‑inspired bamboo weaving. Designs were ready, but the right textiles were not—no fabric partner matched the quality, storytelling and ethics the team needed. Instead of compromising, the collection was deliberately paused and its woven bamboo mats were stored away, waiting for the right alignment.

In 2025, that pause finally broke. Suitable textiles were found, the design language evolved, and what returned was not a delayed drop but a more complete version of the original dream. The name AfterWait captures that turning point: everything you see now exists because the team chose to wait instead of rushing.

AfterWait – “Worth the Becoming”:

The full line reads: AfterWait – Worth the Becoming. It reflects four ideas:

Patience – allowing a collection to rest until the right collaborators, materials and processes are in place.

Resilience – holding onto a concept across seasons, even when timelines stretch.

Reinvention – using the break to rethink forms, colours and finishes, rather than simply reviving frozen designs.

Alignment – launching when craft, story and supply chain truly support each other instead of forcing a quick release.

The result is a collection that feels calm, intentional and rooted—not trend‑driven.

Bamboo, Textiles and a Meeting of Worlds:

AfterWait stands at the intersection of handwoven bamboo from Tripura and expressive textiles that carry flora, fauna, folklore and a touch of mysticism. The earlier Naga‑inspired bamboo language remains in the structure, but the new fabrics bring in narrative and emotion: prints, textures and colours that speak of landscapes and stories.

This amalgamation of material, craft and narrative is central to the name. AfterWait marks the moment when stored bamboo mats—once just raw potential—are finally allowed to become cushions, bed mats, table runners and festive dining pieces that feel like contemporary, quiet luxury from Northeast India.

A Philosophy of Material Patience:

The naming goes beyond this one launch; it reflects a broader design philosophy. AfterWait celebrates material patience—the idea that sustainable design often requires stepping back, testing, and sometimes saying “not yet”. It recognises that artisans, designers and materials all need time to find their best expression together.

In a world of constant drops and fast collections, AfterWait is a gentle refusal. It says: the best work cannot be hurried; it has to be become.
